"Spider" Mike Bochey

Mike started playing guitar when he was 14. His first blues encounter was listening to Mississippi John Hurt on PBS. Finger picking has fascinated him ever since.  Mike lived in the little town pf Skipack, PA, 10 minutes from the old Poole

Farm where the Philadelphia Folk Festival was held.  It was a time of the blues revival when the search was on for the old bluesmen.  This gave Mike the opportunity to meet and play with many old time blues players.  A Member of the Philadelphia Folk song society, he participated at many local events.

Mike moved to Wilmington in 1980. Family and career commitments kept him from being an active musician until 2000.

Since then he has performed at many local and regional venues and Mike is a regular player with area blues events.

He also finds plenty of time to donate his talent selflessly for many area fundraising events.

Mike was a participant in the 2003 Blues Challenge and won 2nd place in the Solo Division of the Blues Challenge in 2004.

Mikes, humble, friendly and charming stage presence is just part of his outstanding talent as a performer, and his old school fingerpick picking' style  is influenced by many folk and blues artists that were popular at the turn of the twentieth century.

A magical and engaging storyteller, Mike captivates and endears himself to his audience of blues music lovers everywhere he plays.
